MODELLING NITROGEN DIFFUSION IN NITRIDED STEEL USING FORGE®
Nitriding improves the surface hardness and wear resistance of components such as gears, crankshafts, and dies while maintaining a ductile core and minimizing distortion.
In collaboration with Safran, this study demonstrates how FORGE® can simulate nitrogen and carbon diffusion in steel, taking into account nitride formation. This approach helps engineers predict diffusion behavior, control surface properties, and improve the reproducibility of nitriding treatments.
